Two beautiful saloon beer trays bearing the image of Baby Doe, Elizabeth McCourt Tabor, the 2nd wife of Horace Tabor. Baby Doe got her name from her first husband, miner Harvey Doe. The pair worked his mines in Central City to limited success, but the marriage and the mines failed. She met and married Senator Horace Tabor, discoverer of the famous Matchless Mine in Leadville. Tabor's fortune disappeared, and the pair were near penniless in the 1890's, about when these trays were made. He died in the spring of 1899, and Baby Doe Tabor moved back to Leadville. These trays are probably from a Leadville saloon. The trays show some wear, small spots and edge damage.
