These two covers attest to the strong influence of the Chinese in Pioche. 1) 1922. Good strike. cc of Ong Chong Lung, Pioche merchant. Addressed to Doap Leun Hong Company of San Francisco, druggist. Chinese writing on the cover and two sheets of Chinese writing as contents. 2) 1922. Excellent strike. Chinese writing on the cover. cc of Tom Wah, Prince Mining Company. Includes a history of Prince Mining Company. Biography of Tom Wah: after troubles in Yuma where his restaurant was burned to the ground, Goldfield where his business was boycotted by all whites, and Ely where his store was once again boycotted by all whites, Tom Wah moved to Pioche and became the cook for the Prince Mining Company. At 45 he went to the World's Fair in San Francisco in 1914 and married 14-year-old Gue Gum Der. She would take over the restaurant business of Wah when he passed away. Biography on Gue Gum Der (Herbert Hoover celebrated at least one birthday in her restaurant that she take over after her husband passed away, 1950 Grand Marshall for the Nevada Day Parade).
