Two important Comstock assay offices. 1) Assay Office of Van Wyck & Co., Assayers, Virginia City, N.T. Nov. 17th, 1864 (two weeks after statehood). The Savage Mining Co. has deposited 2,060.5 ounces of bullion for smelting and assaying from the Buckeye Mill. Portions missing along left edge. Measures 3.5" x 8" 2) Memorandum of Bullion Deposited for Assay at the Gold Hill Assay Office, March 13th, 1889 by the Washoe Mill (Justice Mining Co.). One bar, No. 896, total value $2,625.31. Signed by W.S. James as assayer. Folds with minor separation. Measures 5" x 11" (Prag Collection)
