Lot of 2. 1) Very early 1861 Wells Fargo & Co., Virginia City check issued to CR Ahern for $40. We believe this to be Con Ahern, who later was the saloon owner of the famous Crystal Bar. This check is signed by Charles Strong, who would be a superintendent for the Gould & Curry and Savage Mines. 2) Bank of California, Gold Hill, certificate of deposit for JH Thies in 1872. Signed by Blauvelt. There are Thies embossed bottles known to collectors from Reno.
