Lot of 2 different. 1) Ophir Silver Mining Company. San Francisco, 1866. Assessment on Thos. Mason for his 60 shares. Signed by the secretary. 2 cent US IR stamp. 2) Eclipse, Winters & Plato Consolidated Gold Hill Mining Company. San Francisco, 1873. Assessment on I. Glazier & Co. for their 10 shares. Signed by the secretary. These three original Comstock claims located in Gold Hill were shown in the Mining Atlas accompanying Volume III of the U.S. Geological Exploration of the Fortieth Parallel by Clarence King in 1870. The company was later absorbed by William Sharon on April 13, 1876, into the Consolidated Imperial which had increased its shares to 500,000. Sharon also absorbed the adjacent properties including the Imperial Silver Mining Co., Empire, Consolidated Gold Hill Quartz, Gold Hill Mining Company, French Gold Hill Mining Company, Bacon Mill & Mining Co., and the Bowers Mining Co., all basically constituting the smaller Gold Hill mining companies.
