Lot of 2. 1) Carson and Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company revenue check, 1878, Virginia City. Issued to CC Atherton. Signed by DL Bliss. Rare Wells Fargo cancel on the reverse. 2) Bullion & Exchange Bank stock order form, 1887, for DL Bliss buying shares in the Con. Cal. & Va. Mine. Signed by Bliss. DL Bliss was a key figure in supplying lumber for the Comstock mines. His Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company operated at Glenbrook and Spooner Summit. When the Comstock declined, Bliss transitioned to the tourism industry. He built a railroad from Truckee to Tahoe City, built the Tahoe Tavern, and retrofitted his lumber steamers to transport tourists around the lake.
