1) # 2025 for $500 to Edward Hall. Signed by Commissioner Charles DeMorse. Vignettes include allegorical seamen, Texas star and semi nude allegorical lady. 2) Issued to Charles DeMorse. Vignettes of farming, Native American and Texas star. Demorse was an editor, publisher, statesman, soldier, public official, lawyer, merchant, and farmer. In 1836 he fought with the Texas army. In 1862 he was a colonel of the 29th Cavalry. He was the commanding officer at Poison Springs where a federal advance was stopped. He was first mayor of Clarksville. All have multiple cut cancellations and some tears and folding bottom right. The Commission was tasked with funding the republic's mounting public debt. Both have multiple cut cancellations. One has tears.
