Lot of 2 different. 1) Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad. Pass no. 701 issued for 1934-35 to WS Dawson of the Southern Pacific. Countersigned by Titlow. Nevada railroad that operated 100.4 miles from Mina to Goldfield, 1905-1947. After decades of decline in gold mining, gasoline rationing in Nevada during WWII (1942) give this railroad some late-in-life importance, as it could bring fuel into that area of Nevada for ranchers and miners. Also during WWII (1942-45), the railroad transported passengers to the Tonopah Army Airfield. After the war, when rationing stopped and the airbase closed, the railroad quickly declined again and stopped operations in 1947. 2) The Rio Grande Southern Railroad Company. Pass no. 569 issued for 1925 to RB Delafield. Countersigned by EE Emerson and signed by president Marshall. The Rio Grande Southern Railroad (RGS) was a 3 ft narrow gauge railroad which ran from Durango to Ridgway in the western part of Colorado.
