But don't worry - the bad guy loses in this one. 1) Bullfrog Gold Bar Mining Company. 1906. Number 730 for 1000 shares to Howard H Shim. Signed by CJ Kirk and JP Loftus. He was editor of the Goldfield News in 1906. His house is on the National Register of Historic Places. Why? "[Loftus] was another early arriver who became one of the most reputable mining operators and businessmen in Goldfield. Along with his partner, J. R. Davis, he exploited two of the most successful leases in the district: the Loftus-Davis lease on the Sandstorm and the Loftus-Davis-Sweeney lease on the Combination Fraction. His career as an active mining developer contributed to the development of other mining districts in the area including Rhyolite, Round Mountain, Fairview and Diamondfield. As a businessman and community leader he helped found the Montezuma Club and provided the financial backing for the Goldfield Publishing Company which published the area's largest newspaper, the Goldfield News." 2) Yankee Girl Gold MIning Company. Number 498 for 1000 shares to Sol Levy. Signed by E Patrick and LL Patrick. Patrick's reputation was not as kind as Loftis. But in this case he was the big loser. He never did =make anything of hte Yankee Girl. But in 1986 high grade ore was found underneath the concrete footings of the mill. As Maxwell Smart would say, "Missed it by that much!"(Bennett Collection) Date: 1906 Location: Bullfrog, Nevada HWAC# 60224
