1) "Mexican Titles in the States and Territories of the United States", 1881. 12pp, 9" x 5.75", soft cover. Authored by J. Alexander Forbes, Keeper of Spanish Archives in U. S. Sur. General's Office and for many years in the employ of the Government of the U. S. in connection with Spanish and Mexican Land Grants in California. James Alexander Forbes (1805 – 1881) was the British vice-consul to Mexican California as well as the first British consul to the U.S. state of California. He built a flour mill outside of San Jose, California (now known as Forbes Mill), and that land eventually became the basis of the town of Los Gatos. The publication is signed by Forbes. 2) "Lincoln's Administration and the New Almaden Scandal" by Leonard Asher, San Francisco State College. Published in 1936, 51pp., 10" x 6.5". Signed by Ascher.
