These lots include examples of Utah and Nevada Variscite. #26 is form Mina Nevada and weighs 8.6g, polished. #30 is from Utah and weighs 32.9g, slightly polished. Variscite is considered to be one of the rarer and lesser-known collector's gemstones available today. Its appearance often causes it to be confused with turquoise, but variscite's color tends to be greener rather than blue. It is an opaque gemstone with interesting color splotches and veins. It is usually a light or minty-green with whitish patterns. Almost all Variscite gemstones originate from Utah, and for this reason it may also be called Utahlite. It is a relatively rare hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral, and gem-quality deposits and occurrences are considerably rare. Date: Location: Nevada/Utah HWAC# 61501
