Milltown was the dream of Taylor and Kendrick. They would lay out the townsite in November of 1903. This would make Milltown and incredibly early suburb of Goldfield. Columbia and Jumbo would be two others. Milltown was just southwest of the rich Florence Hill. The Reno Evening Gazette reported in October 4, 1904 that the town of Goldfield and its suburbs of Milltown, Jumbo and Columbia had all the workers it could manage. The article pointed out the anyone else arriving would have trouble finding work and the high prices in Goldfield would soon absorb the small savings of an average laborer. “People without money stay away!” In 1906 Milltown was not only a small, but thriving suburb; it was an important railroad stop for both the Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad, but also the Bullfrog Railroad. It was not only a milling site for Goldfield gold, but in the middle of some rich mines. [collateralhistory.com]
