Nice Nevada pair. 1) Chance Silver Mining Company. No. 142, issued in 1874 to W. Smarks, trustee. Not signed by the president, but signed by secretary Jos. Marks. Not cancelled. Ornate logo with a mining vignette integrated into the title letters. Britton & Rey. Diagonal fold, some toning. Cheery Creek, Nevada. 2) California-Nevada Creamery Company. Low number 13, issued to secretary T.R. Hofer on Sept. 26th, 1892. Also signed by president Williams. Hofer was an important Carson City banking figure and once served as supt. for the Carson City Mint. Not cancelled. Ornate logo and farming vignette. Two bent corners. Ken Prag Collection
