Hamilton was a major proponent of a railroad from Folsom to Placerville and was secretary of the Sacramento Valley Railroad. In 1867 he ran for, and narrowly lost, district attorney. Daniel O McCarthy was the proprietor and editor of the 'American Flag.' This was a daily (except Sunday) paper published from April 18, 1864 to September 7, 1867. This must have been for a year's subscription. 2) 1866. From GW Swan to S. Tillman of New York. Value was $10. Also signed by Crandall for Tracy.
