Plumas County at the far northern end of California’s famed Mother Lode and produced more than 5 million ounces of gold. 1)Plumas Consolidated Mill and Mining #35 i/u to Julia Prentiss 1866, 100 shares, signed by president Handy 2)Uncas Mining-located in Sierra County #34 i/u to CE Elliott 188, 100 shares signed by president Walker. "The first gold camps in Sierra County, Indian Hill and nearby Depot Hill, were hydraulic mining areas between 1850 and the 1880s. The gold-bearing gravels were reported to be as much as 100 feet thick, and only a few lode deposits were discovered. Neither camp grew large, however, and little remains to mark the locations. In the peak mining years, these were some of the most remote camps in the Sierras." from www.icmj.com (Al Adams Gold Rush Memorabilia Collection) Date: Location: Plumas and Sierra Counties, California HWAC# 58926
