1) Bodie and Benton Railway and Commercial Co. Aug. 18th, 1885 letter from the Superintendent's Office. Addressed to Hume Yerington, Purchasing Agent for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Thomas Holt, supt. of the Bodie railroad, is asking for his statement. Folds and light toning. 2) Rarer, later letter for the company, now called Bodie Railway and Lumber Co., dated Nov. 7, 1902. Addressed to E. Fitzgerald in Redwood, Cal. regarding payments. Signed by E.L. Reese (lessee). Yellow paper with deep folds. The Bodie & Benton Railroad was a 32 mile track from Bodie to the Mono Mills. It never connected to outside railroad lines. The track was completed in 1881. The railway ended operations in 1917. It is the subject of a recent book, "Railroad in the Sky." Prag Collection
