Both very scarce. 1) Ophir Silver Mining Company, Virginia City, 1878 paycheck when James G. Fair was superintendent. Fair was one of the Bonanza Kings. The Ophir was one of the earliest mines on the Comstock. Issued to Pat. O'Brien, a miner, for 31 days of work. 2) Imperial Mine, Gold Hill, 1876 paycheck when C.C. Batterman was supt. Batterman also once ran the Gould & Curry, the Crown Point, and other mines. Issued for 6 days work as a miner. The Imperial was a successful Gold Hill mine.
