Two nice Delamar, Nevada pieces that are seldom seen. 1) De Lamar Company, Limited Share Warrant to Bearer for 10 shares issued in London in 1901. Two coupons remain at the bottom. 2) Bamberger=De Lamar Gold Mines Company stock issued for 100 shares in 1902. Engraved by Franklin Lee Bank Note, New York. Nice mining vignette of miners working underground. This one we don't think we've seen before. Gold was discovered at De Lamar in 1890 and the Ferguson district was organized in 1891. The district's fortunes rose when Capt. John De Lamar of Montana purchased the principal claims in 1893 for $150,000 (Paher, Ghost Towns & Mining Camps of Nevada). The mines at Delamar became known as the "widow makers" as many miners there died of the fatal silicosis, caused by improper ventilation of the mines. The mines were the largest producers in Nevada for a five year period due to a lull in the state overall. Capt. De Lamar sold out his position in 1902 to Simon Bamberger (hence the name on our second certificate in this lot). Bamberger installed a 400 ton mill in 1903, and Delamar still ranked as the third largest producer in Nevada behind Goldfield and Tonopah as late as 1906. Both of the certificate are in VF condition.
