Two quite different stocks. 1) Number 265 for 45,000 shares to William H Boothe(?) in 1878. Signed by D Buck and JW Martin. Datelined San Francisco. Printer was Crocker & Company. Some staining on left and cut roughly on bottom. Nice specimen. 2) Number 2192 for 20 shares to Alvin F HIll in 1881. Signed by Hill and ML Earle. Vignette of underground miners. Folds and bottom left corner is dog eared. Printed by Mining Record Litho of New York. Located in the Richmond Basin, the Silver Nugget was one of a number of mines operating in the Globe District between 1878 and 1893. Tenney (1929, p73) cites the Globe City Chronicle that reported there were 20 organized companies in the district in 1880. Among these was the Silver Nugget which operated a 6-stamp mill. Burchard (1881, p117) reports the mine produced $19,272 in bullion for the calendar year 1880. He also reports the Silver Nugget the second most important in the district. Several veins were being explored, ranging from 1 to 8 feet in width. One 12 inch vein comprised high grade ore. (Laguna Collection) Date: 1878, 1881 Location: Globe, Arizona HWAC# 59486
