A Skookum doll was a Native American themed doll, sold as a souvenir item in the early 20th century. Although considered collectible, they are not authentic Indian dolls, as they were designed and created by a white woman, and quickly mass-produced. Both dolls have nicely detailed composition (sawdust, glue, and other materials such as cornstarch, resin and wood flour) faces with mohair braided hair. Female figure is wrapped in woven blanket and had cotton top and skirt, suede boots. 15.5" x 4.75" x 3.5. Male figure is wrapped in woven blanket with cotton shirt, felt trousers and painted shoes. He has beaded necklace and a felt backpack.. 11.5" x 3.5" x 3". Both are in good condition. City: State: Date: c. 1920's ID# 37336
