Lot of 2. These are some of the earliest Comstock documents you can collect. These are rarer than the certificates from Gold Hill. 1) No. 2375, issued to Samuel Geddes for $400 on Dec. 5, 1862. Signed by agent Hedley. Geddes was a stock broker in Virginia City (according to Collins directory). 2) No. 2099, issued to John Corrigan for $337.50 on Nov. 1st, 1862. Reverse is endorsed to J.L. Van Bokkelen. Jacob Van Bokkelen was named first the Assistant and then General Provost Marshal of Nevada early in the Civil War. He also was involved in a brewery and a hardware business. For the latter, he served as agent for Giant Powder Company; this position led to his death in 1873 when explosives accidentally detonated, killing him and 9 others. Both certificates are 4 x 8"
