He was in Whiskey Insurrection as a volunteer surgeon. When he died, he left his $400,000 fortune to erect and maintain a retreat for the relief of indigent married women of good character. 2) # 959 for one share to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. "...for erecting a Bridge over the west branch of Susquehanna at the Town of Lewisburg..." Signed by president William Hayes. He was a leading property owner and citizen of Lewisburg.
