Number 2870 for 100 shares to Wilhelmine Hasslacher. Signed by president RL Johns. Robert L. Johns was an attorney in Goldfield according to the 1907-08 Nevada Directory. He was also a leading citizen of Goldfield in its earliest days. He was one of 34 registered voters in the area to attend the first meeting of the Goldfield Mining District on October 20, 1903. He was made the chairman and took his place on a pile of shingles. Unfortunately for Johns, his most memorable moment in Goldfield might be the divorce proceedings with his wife. Nellie's lawyers brought up charge after charge against Johns. He was accused in 1895 after just marrying an 18 year old, he was 33, of suspending her from a small boat over a deep lake and trying to force a confession of infidelity from her. She never confessed to such. Later he came home one night, woke up Nellie, waved a large knife around her and told her to,Say Your Prayers!" He never denied anything during the trial saying drugs and liquor were involved in all charges.
