Lot of 2 notebooks. 1) Cover: Laboratory Notes. Nat. E. Wilson. Bayonne City, New Jersey. Begins in Jan. 1891. Last entry in June 1895. Most pages in ledger used. The first section (Jan.-July 1891) covers when Wilson was working in lab of "B. C. Co." (Bergenport Chemical Company) in New Jersey, acting as an assayer of ores and analyzer of fertilizers. Bergenport Chemical Company was associated with Standard Oil. The second section of this ledger starts in 1893 and looks to be when Wilson was working at the Agricultural Experiment Station (University of Nevada, Reno) in Reno, Nevada. 2) Second ledger has Frederick Stadtmuller, Assistant Chemist on front. Covers 1894-1895. Approx. half pages are unused. Tucked in back (as bookmark?) were two blank Nevada State University vouchers and a blank First National Bank of Reno deposit slip. Stadtmuller was an instructor in physics and chemistry at Nevada State University. Fascinating look at assaying at the end of the 19th century.
