Two red clay jars from East Asia, China, Neolithic Period, ca. 3000 to 2000 BCE. Round bottomed vessels, the bodies covered in deeply-incised lines (sgraffito) which give them an interesting texture. The wide neck of the vessel is slightly corseted and flares upwards to a thick rim with a splayed lip. One jar is 4" h x 4.25" diameter; the other is 5"h x 4.75" diameter.
