Group of six medals related to accomplishments, circa 1920s on. Includes a copper 1-1/4 inch diameter medal honoring Dr. FE Townsend, c1935. Townsend proposed an old age pension which influenced the establishment of the Roosevelt Social Security system. Obverse strike of Townsend bust, reads "Prosperity for All." Reverse reads, "O.A.R.P. Old Age Revolving Pensions." Also, 1 inch brass Obverse: "Admiral Dewey Hero of Manila with Dewey bust, Reverse: "Remember the Maine" with ship; 1-1/4 inch nickel honoring "Rear Admiral Richard E Byrd, U.S.N.", "First to fly over the South Pole," Byrd bust obverse, reverse, plane and "To Commemorate the achievement of The Byrd Antarctic Expedition 1928-1930; 1 inch Navy Exchange Sangley Point token; and 1 inch copper Major General Winfield Scott, from Mexico.
