This box plate is roughly 3.25 in. across with US embossed on the face. The plate would have appeared on the face of a cartridge box before being dislodged. It was deaccessioned from the Gettysburg Museum of History; item 01.AFLRT2.13 in 2013. The artifact was recovered from the Gettysburg battle field at Little Round Top at the 20th Maine's Front, by Al Flickinger. The plate shows patination of a buried piece consistent with vintage metallurgy. Currently displayed in a small riker box without additional distractions. It includes a letter of guarantee from noted Gettysburg historian, Erik Dorr, Curator of the Gettysburg Museum of History. The museum incidentally is the family home of the Dorrs since 1818.
