A collection of 24 U.S. Commemorative Covers all signed by US senators, 1933-75. 28 senators' autographs in all, plus other government figures. Includes First Flight, First Day and Special Use, most with cachets. Group includes Savannah First Day Cover Bi-Centennial Celebration cachet, 1933 Savannah cancel, autographed by U.S. senators from Georgia, Walter F. George (in office from 1922-57) and Richard B. Russell Jr. (in office from 1921-71), as well as the Governor of Georgia, Eugene Talmadge (in office 1933-37). Also, First Flight, 1972 Atlanta cancel, autographed by Louisiana Senator Elaine S. Edwards, a temporary senatorial appointment by her husband Gov. Edwin Edwards, to complete the term of U.S. Senator Allen Ellender, who had passed away, and additional autograph by Elaine Edwards on enclosed letter, and 1972 article about her appointment by her husband. Also included is Allen Ellender's autograph on a different cover from 1969 when he was U.S. representative for Louisiana. Other senators' autographs include, from 1969-75: Nunn from Georgia, Gurney from Florida, Symington of Missouri, Hruska from Nebraska, Hatfield from Oregon, Percy from Illinois, Simon from Illinois, Russell from Georgia, Thurmond of South Carolina, Buckley of New York, McGee of Wyoming, Bayh of Indiana, Cranston of California, Edwards of California, Ribicoff of Connecticut, Proxmire of Wisconsin, Byrd of Virginia, Saxbe of Ohio, Talmadge of Georgia, Flynt of Georgia, Baker of Tennessee, Smith of Maine, Spong of Virginia, and Ervin of North Carolina (2) with an additional on enclosed letter. Others include Cervantes, mayor of St. Louis; Adlai E. Stevenson III, Illinois State treasurer; James, mayor of San Jose; Hearns, Governor of Missouri; Fred O.
