Sent to Department of Interior, Pension Office in Washington D. C. Sent Sep. 29, 1886. Manuscript cancel. This 1886 letter seems most likely to be attached to the Civil War and an injured soldier. Rothville was laid out in 1883. The community derives its name from John Roth, a local merchant. A post office was established at Rothville in 1868. Famed writer Laura Ingalls-Wilder lived here for a short time (1868-1869) on land within the town's borders. [Wikipedia]
