This cavalry bugle is marked "7/ A" over and under crossed swords, c. 1880's. In very good condition with re-enforced bends and bell. 12 in. in length with the mouthpiece removed. Copper and brass construction. The 7th Cavalry was formed in 1866 and saw considerable action during the Indian War of the 1870's-1880's; most notably the Battle of the Little Big Horn. This is not a reproduction piece, and without an instrument hard case. The 7th was known as the "Garryowen" unit by the Irish folk tune they played. This tune which signaled to attack is now banned by the descendants of the 7th Cavalry as of 1968.
