There are three elements to this lot: the Military Police map of the Dachau prison camp, the Dachau museum catalog at pp. 226, and "After the Battle" number 27, 1980 periodical. Using the photo from the periodical "After the Battle" page 6-7 and using the MP map as an overlay, one can plot the American advancement on the German SS stronghold. The Military Police used this blueprinted map (dated 1-11-45) to assist US troops contain and neutralize the SS troops stationed there. At that time, the exact location of the concentration camp was unknown but thought to be near Munich. The map is outlined in blue crayon of the SS barracks and command. The MP intentions were to help first entry US troops to contain and later imprison the SS forces at Dachau on April 29, 1945. Troops cleared buildings of SS men and tolerated no resistance. The map is folded and foxed and shows signs of being carried on assignment by an MP (14 in. X 16 in.). Photos are explicit. Please see photo for details.
