An antique ore bag from the Union Mine of Atolia, California, dating from c.1870s. The bag has a coarse weave with some wear and fraying at the mouth. It has the text 'UNION MINE / OWENYO CALIF.' printed in black ink (heavily faded, but still legible). A smear of black ink also obscures some text. The reverse side of the bag has the letters 'H' and 'XX' handwritten in black, perhaps indicating the origin of the bag's contents.
