An original miner's ore bag from the Scheelite Korea Tungsten Mining Company of Atolia, California, dated c. 1920s. The 16x26 bag is made of canvas and bears the text 'SCHEELITE / KOREA TUNGSTEN / MINING CO. / Lot No. 187 Bag No. 185' as well as a central circular logo. This text is somewhat faded. Some soiling consistent with use, minor fraying around the edges and mouth.
The original seller of the bag claims to have found it underground on the 300' level of the Union Mine in Atolia, California. Atolia was one of the largest producers of tungsten in California, and the Union Mine -- which commenced operation in the 1910s and supplied tungsten to the war effort -- was a notable producer.
