From the James Reynolds Collection, a major Nevada collector in the 1960s-70s. I can guarantee you will never see this again. An official document that recognizes Mottsville County. (This obviously refers to Mottsville in Douglas County.) This deed is for Richard Alvy and is for a water ditch. Includes a hand drawn map of section 4 and 5 with a Wood Road, Flour Mill, Residence, Mountain Stream, and proposed Water Ditch. The document states, "First, the mill power and water ditch shall be called Alvy's ditch. The mill power consists of the entire stream known as Motts Creek...The ditch for irrigating purposes takes water out of the aforesaid creek about two hundred yards west of my residence." Richard Alvy does not sign the paper, but makes his mark which is witnessed by John Parson. Alvy was born in 1817 in England. He came to America in 1859 and soon found his way to Nevada. In the 1900 census at 83 years old his occupation is listed as a "Capitalist!"
