"The Newspapers of Nevada" by Lingenfelter Rix Gash found no known copies of this volume and number in their search of almost 100 libraries, museums and other institutions. This newspaper lasted less than four months and only (about) 15 volumes were printed. The front page of this article is devoted to the McKinley Mining & Smelting Company and goes into depth about the property! The McKinley group is in the Robinson District about seven miles from Ely and at Ruth, Nevada. W. N. McGill (as in McGill, Nevada and a rather famous Eastern Nevada mining engineer) is running the operations. This was an investment of none other than President and Mrs. William McKinley, However, he was assassinated in September of 1901 just about one year before this newspaper was published. Current resources indicate that he invested $80,000. However, there is no indication he had anything more to do with it. The driving force behind the investment was his father-in-law, Mr. Saxton. Therefore, it is quite possible that Mrs. McKinley may have had more to do with the investment. State: Nevada City: Ely, White Pine Date:
