The property was formerly known as the Baisely-Elkhorn. The mine was located approx. 16 miles west of Baker City, Oregon. The mine was shipping ore to the Sumpter smelter and was covering expenses. The mine was located adjacent to the promising Black Bear mine. According the the E.M.J., the United Elkhorn was taking the lead among the mines in Baker County in 1905.
