Lot of 3 waybills from 1903. United State Mail Line, Milton Gann, proprietor. Transport from Milton to Angels (Camp). 7.5 x 18" Punch cancelled. Milton is located in Calaveras County, California. It was made famous by the notorious Wells Fargo stagecoach robber Charles Boles, known as "Black Bart." Boles robbed his first stagecoach in 1875 on the road between Copperopolis and Milton and his last on the same road in 1883. After being wounded, he was later tracked down by Wells Fargo detectives and sentenced to 6 years in San Quentin.
