Cert. # 54, issued to Edward B. Bartlett for 100 shares. Incorporated in New York. Signed by John Roach as president and S.W. Rowell as treasurer. Nice vignette of a steamship near the top. The company was a two-ship shipping line between Brazil and the United States. John Roach & Son was the builder of the S.S. Rio De Janiero, launched in 1876. The steamer sank in 1901, trying to pass through the Golden Gate bridge in heavy fog. The ship hit the rocks and only took ten minutes to sink. The wreck was later found in 287 feet of water. Condition is very good and it's uncanceled.
