A United States Senate Chamber admittance card signed by Vice-President Harry S. Truman less than three months before he would become president of the U.S. following the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The signature was authenticated by Christophe Stickel Autographs of Pacific Grove, CA. The about 3.35" x 2.25" card, dated Jan. 22, 1945, admits Blevins Davis, a theatrical producer and playwright who was a friend of Truman's, to the Vice-President's Row for the 79th Congress. The card is written in Truman's handwriting and signed by Truman at the bottom. Truman (1884-1972) was the 33rd president of the United States. Following a stint as a popular army captain in World War I, the inexperienced Truman became president on April 12, 1945, after Franklin D. Roosevelt's sudden death.
