An official document, c1809, signed by Daniel D. Tompkins, then fourth governor of New York who later became the U.S. vice president under President James Monroe. In the document, Tompkins states, "It is being represented to me that you are not interested in any Turnpike Road..." He then appoints the three men, "Tjerick De Witt, Peter Outwater and Steven Rea, commissioners for inspecting every Turnpike Road in the County of Ulster." The document is signed "By his Excellency the Governor" (Tompkins) on Independence Day, July 4, 1809, "...in the Thirty fourth Year of American Independence." 7.75" x 12.5" partly printed legal size document. Paraffin red wax and paper seal intact, very good. [ Albany New York
