Two High Grade gold specimen from the Donohue Mine from the Fechner Collection. Specimens about 3 x 2 x 1" and 1 x 1 x 2". 2 x 3 x 1". Thinly banded quartz with several gold-rich bands with a cut cross sectional edge showing the banding with native gold particles primarily in the top outer band along one edge. The Donohue Mine has been prospected for decades with an unknown production. A tabular ore zone was described that was up to seven feet wide. These specimens all show native gold in wire golf form. The larger specimen has the gold in and along a cavity in the quartz as does the smaller specimen.
