The famous Van Bergen Gold Dust whiskey in aqua, applied top, light whittle, long air bubbles, intact. This bottle is one of the true "gems" of western whiskey collecting. The amber specimens are worth a considerable sum, and indeed, our company sold a beauty in green-amber for over $30,000 in the past few years. This specimen is unknown to the collecting world, having been unearthed in central California some time ago. Nicholaus Van Bergen and Louis F. Holtz began their partnership in July, 1874. They contracted with the Barkhorse Bros. of Louisville, Kentucky that year and became the sole agent for Gold Dust Whiskey on the West Coast from their San Francisco office. In 1880, Van Bergen & Holtz became sole proprietors of the brand, the phrase used on the bottom of the face of the bottle. This data, provided by G. Numa in a western whiskey blog, clearly shows the date of the bottle to 1880, though it has the appearance of an 1870s bottle. This specimen has never been properly cleaned of the dirt inside, probably easily removed. The bottle is very near perfect. please inspect, or call for detailed inspection by phone. No pin hits to any lettering, top, glop, shoulders. Possibly the tinyist of pin hits on part of bottom ring in base. Its a beauty.
