Lot of 3 items. 1). Certificate No. 2319, issued for 100 shares to S.W. Harris. Datelined New York, June 23, 1881. Signed by James Casey as president and Harry McCoy as secretary. "Location of Mines, Humboldt Co., Indian District, State of Nevada" printed beneath masthead. Embossed seal at bottom left, with black print and border on crème paper. Printer: ABN. 2). An illustration of the holdings of the company, attached to white holder by tape. From "The Daily Graphic: New York, Wednesday, August 20, 1879." The illustration highlights several mines, tunnels, roads, and buildings, with the caption: "Van De Water Gold Gold and Silver Mining Company, Humboldt County, Nevada." 3). A photocopy of pp. 158-159 of "Production of States and Territories-Nevada." Its description of the company identifies several claims in the Spring Valley Canon area, its milling/stamp/smelting operation, the type of ore found, and a statement concerning the "reasonableness" of the Central Pacific Railroad tariff. Certificate has several mild foldlines, otherwise each piece is very fine.
