Very nice saddle work. A. A. Van Voorhies. Voorhies & Company was established in Sacramento in 1850 and became one of the many West Coast makers of the Pony Express saddles. The growing market in the Sacramento area was perfect and the Gold Rush soon led to great success. The growing number of horse and cattle ranches in the Sacramento area throughout the latter half of the 1800s kept the company thriving in Sacramento until the 1920s. In 1920, they took on a partner. They continued making saddles under the Vanco name and mark until the 1940s, when the company closed. Please inspect photograph and contact us if you have any questions.
