No. 309, issued for 1,000 shares to Mrs. ME Graham on Dec. 30th, 1882 in Philadelphia. Signed by president AM Brown and secretary JA Porteus (?). Not cancelled. Green border and black print on pink paper. Two different mining vignettes and the Colorado state seal. Printed by Breuker & Kessler, Philadelphia. Heavy folds with separation, pinholes, and toning discoloration around the entire border. 10 x 12.5" Corregan & Lingane list six different Vanderbilt mines (Clear Creek, Custer, Delores, Lake, Park, and La Plata counties) in their 1883 CO mining directory. Newspaper articles from the time period indicate the company had properties in Lake, Park, and Gunnison Counties. In the June 2nd, 1881 Indiana Progress newspaper, a dispatch from Alma, Colorado says the company owns 11 claims in Park County, 4 in Lake County, and 14 in Gunnison County, with the intention to build a smelter in Alma and another in Gothic.
