Comet Ledge, Lander County (printed at top center). Simpson's Park district. Inc. March 1863. #164, issued for ten shares to S. Lubeck on Nov. 17th, 1863 in San Francisco. Signed by secretary S. T. King and the president (illegible). Not cancelled. Ornate design with black border and print, vignette of a comet with tail incorporated into the title, and bare breasted allegorical woman (at right). Lith. Britton & Co., SF. 25 cent US IR adhesive stamp attached at bottom left. Pinhole, folds, areas of toning. The company is listed in Langley 1864 with an office at 712 Montgomery. S. T. King is listed as a stockbroker, as is S. Lubeck. Andrew Veatch worked in the mill of the Central Company at Virginia City as a chemist. He later had an assay office in Austin (Veatch & Co.). Veatch's blazingstar plant is named for him. 4 pages of research on the Veatch, mine and ledge.
