Comet Ledge, Lander County (printed at top center). Inc. March 1863. No. 164, issued for ten shares to S. Lubeck on Nov. 17th, 1863 in San Francisco. Signed by secretary S.T. King and the president (illegible). Not cancelled. Ornate design with black border and print, vignette of a comet with tail incorporated into the title, and bare breasted allegorical woman (at right). Lith. Britton & Co., SF. 25 cent US IR adhesive stamp attached at bottom left, pen cancelled. Pinhole, folds, areas of heavy toning. 5.5 x 9.75" The company is listed in Langley 1864 with an office at 712 Montgomery. ST King is listed as a stock broker, as is S. Lubeck. Andrew Veatch worked in the mill of Central Company at Virginia City as a chemist. He also had an assay office in Austin (Veatch & Co.).
