A great piece of history. This newspaper was printed on wallpaper, a day or two after Grant's capture of the city, dated July 4, 1863. There were several reproductions of this rare paper. Originals (confederate) sell for 6-8 thousand dollars. A paragraph at the lower right states that the city had fallen, and that this was "the last wall paper edition." The later reproductions have 7 distinctive differences between them and the originals. This edition has only 2 of the 7 "markers" of the later reproductions. There are some stains and wear. City: Vicksburg State: Mississippi Date: 1863 hwac# 35342
