This three piece lot consist of a vintage bullwhip, quirt and a branding running iron, this rawhide braided bullwhip has a swivel handle and the piece measures 12 Ω feet from the top of the handle to the tip of the popper, it has a nice patina that has been built up from years of use and overall in good condition given its age possibly from about the late 1800's to the early 1900's , a piece of woven in rawhide has replaced the original popper and the lacing is somewhat loose where it joins the whip, the quirt is from about the same era , has nice patina and measures at about 34 inches long and overall in very good condition for its age, the third piece is a hand forged running iron, this type of iron was used to change or alter brands and carried by the common cattle rustler, it measures at 22 Ω inches so as to be easily concealed on the rustlers horse, it was well known to be a hanging offense to be caught with one on the open range and sometimes rustlers were simply shot if found with one in their possession, these three items represent a great piece of our western history.
