Lot of 1. Metal step stool from the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. D&RGW reporting mark embossed/in relief on side of stool. Painted orange. Rio Grande in black ink on two sides. No other marks, est. c. early 1900s. Paint faded/gone along edges and all surfaces. Dimensions: (top) 13.5" x 15.5"; (base): 18.25" x 19.75"; height: 10.5". Weight: 17 lbs. Note: the D&RGW started in 1870 as a transcontinental bridge between Denver and Salt Lake City, UT. At its peak of fame in 1889 it was the largest narrow-gauge railroad network in North America encompassing 1,861 miles of track throughout Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. D&RGW became a division of the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1988 and ceased operations in 1992 (historical info from Wikipedia).
